Colin V. is the Content Moderation Lead for an online platform that provides tools for instructors to create and sell asynchronous courses. He ensures that their platform does not host harmful content and creates guidelines that keep their online community safe and inclusive. Colin is an expert in his field, he constantly assesses where his gaps in knowledge are and joins discussion groups, webinars, and online courses, as well as reads about related topics that will help him to build skills and knowledge in his field. In addition, he acts as a mentor for colleagues that are interested in trust and safety and content moderation.

Colin chose to take part in the online, asynchronous course Spotting Misinformation because it is related to his field and because it is designed and offered by MediaWise, “a nonpartisan, nonprofit initiative of The Poynter Institute that has already reached 21 million people through online educational content and fact-checking training” (Poynter, 2022). MediaWise and Poynter are respected sources that were mentioned in a webinar that he attended.
